Get Involved
The Bloomingdale Park District offers a number of different ways to get involved.
- The Adopt-A-Park program was instituted in 2015 and involves organizations adopting a local park. The program is designed to be a low key, informal approach to involve the community with its neighborhood park by "keeping an eye out" for potential hazards, vandalism and general park abuse, as well as assisting in keeping parks clean and free of invasive vegetation.
- The Bloomingdale Parks Foundation is an organization dedicated to helping the Park District provide great recreation programs and open space while also assisting individuals to gain access to programs, enhancing current programs and making improvements to all of BPD's parks.
- Volunteers play an important role in every public agency and are needed for many special events and in the gymnastics and athletic programs (coaches). If you are interested in volunteer opportunities at the Bloomingdale Park District, contact Rebecca Defrancesco .
- The Giving Tree Program offers individuals, organizations or community businesses the opportunity to purchase trees as a gift for someone special, memory of a loved one, or a cost-effective means of advertising.
- The Park District offers a variety of opportunities for businesses to advertise, interact with residents and/or simply invest in their community via the Corporate Partnership Program . The Park District works to maximize your investment by continually helping to advance your message, mission and sales efforts.

Recreation Scholarship Impact | June 2025 – January 2026
From June 2025 through January 2026, the Bloomingdale Parks Foundation helped open doors for local families by providing $7,100 in scholarship support, ensuring access to programs that might otherwise be out of reach. Through the Foundation’s 50/50 Scholarship Program, families were able to participate in meaningful Park District experiences that support youth development, physical activity, and social connection. This support translated into more than 875 hours of recreation and childcare services for children in our community.
Scholarship assistance made it possible for participants to engage in a wide variety of programs, including summer camps, gymnastics, soccer, martial arts, preschool, and before- and after-school care. Many families especially benefited from programs like Tiny Tot Preschool, Top Dog Summer Camp, and before- and after-school care at Winnebago, where children gain structure, build friendships, and grow in confidence. But the impact goes beyond participation. These scholarships provide children with opportunities to learn, play, and belong—while giving families peace of mind knowing their children are in a safe, supportive environment.
For many, it means the ability to stay active, connected, and engaged in ways that shape lifelong well-being. At its core, the Bloomingdale Parks Foundation is committed to ensuring that every child has the opportunity to participate, regardless of financial circumstances.
