Scheduled Prescribed Burns  - Updated March 20, 2026


The Bloomingdale Park District has scheduled a prescribed burn with our contractor McGinty at Springfield Park for Monday, March 9, weather permitting.  Following Springfield Park, prescribed burning will continue at Westlake Park, Circle Park, and Sunnyside Park in the coming weeks. Nearby residents were initially notified on February 10. The Park District provides a minimum of 48 hours’ advance notice prior to the scheduled burn date.

Nearby residents were notified on February 10, 2026 regarding an upcoming prescribed burn. The Park District will provide a minimum of 48 hours’ advance notice prior to the scheduled burn date, which will also be shared on our website and digital media channels.

Update Regarding The Prescribed Burning Project - Dated February 26, 2026
Our contractor, McGinty, has confirmed that prescribed burning at Springfield Park may begin as early as the week of Monday, March 2, weather permitting and dependent on staff availability. Following completion at Springfield Park, work will continue at Westlake Park, Circle Park, and Sunnyside Park. The contractor anticipates the prescribed burning process at all locations will be completed within approximately two weeks.

Prescribed Burn Scheduled For Springfield Park - Dated Monday, March 9, 2026

Due to changing weather conditions, the Bloomingdale Park District will be unable to proceed with additional prescribed burns this week. If weather conditions improve, the next scheduled burn may take place on Wednesday, March 18 at Circle Park and Sunnyside Park, weather permitting. Updates will continue to be shared on the Park District website and digital media channels.

Prescribed Burn Update – Dated March 16, 2026
Due to continued unfavorable weather conditions, the prescribed burns planned for Circle Park and Sunnyside Park have been placed on hold this week. The next opportunity to conduct these burns will be during the week of Monday, March 23, weather permitting.  Please, continue to check the BPD website or social media channels for continued updates.

Prescribed Burn Update - Dated March 20, 2026
The Bloomingdale Park District has scheduled prescribed burns at Circle Park, Sunnyside Park, and Westlake Park beginning Monday, March 23. Weather permitting, all three locations are expected to be completed by Wednesday, March 25 (or sooner).
