Welcome to the BPD E-newsletter!
This monthly update keeps you in tune with all of the events, activities and happenings in the Bloomingdale Park District. Our mission is to efficiently and economically provide recreation programs, facilities and open space designed to provide enjoyable leisure time experiences that benefit the community.
Fishing Derby
Fishermen of all ages and ability level are invited to the FREE Fishing Derby 8 to 10 a.m., Sept. 15 at Lakeview Park, 240 W. Broker Road.
Newcomers may discover hidden fishing talents while experienced anglers polish their skills. Participants must bring their own fishing gear; bait is provided. Children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
Prizes and contests are part of the fun. This is a catch-and-release event. No registration is necessary.
Juried Mixed Media Show

The Bloomingdale Park District Museum holds its annual mixed media show "Keep it Simple..." featuring talented local artists displaying a variety of different works Sept. 15 through Oct. 20.
Meet the artists, enjoy refreshments and listen to musician Matt Cantlon play his guitar at the reception between 2 and 4 p.m., Sept. 23.
Unframed artwork will be available for purchase. Watch artists paint beautiful pictures outside during the reception (weather permitting).
3-on-3 Basketball Tournament
Team with friends and show off your half-court skills at the 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament Sept. 28-29 at Springfield Park.
Teams may consist of up to five players. Divisions are determined by age groups and classified by gender. Each player receives a T-shirt. This is a double-elimination tournament. Contact Athletics Supervisor Chris Tompkins at (630) 529-3650 to sign up.

Fitness Open Houses - Experience the benefits of yoga at one of two open houses in September. Vinyasa Yoga (Sept. 5, 7:15-8:30PM) and Hot Yoga (Sept. 10, 7:15-8:30PM) open their doors for those looking to gain strength, endurance, flexibility, balance and other health benefits.
Dance! - Contemporary Dance and Bollywood are two new disciplines amongst a wide selection of dance options offered this fall through the Park District. Classes begin Sept. 10. Sign up now!
FREE Family Movie - The first FREE Family Movie of the season is Sept. 21 at 7 p.m. Dr. Seuss' The Lorax is the featured film. Popcorn and drink are just $1!
Back to School - Westfield Jr. Spot, Kids' Place, Kindergarten Kids' Place, Preschool Adventures, and School's Out! programs have started or start soon!
Adult Volleyball League - Team with friends and compete in the new adult volleyball league, which consists of an 8-game season and single-elimination tournament. Contact Athletics Supervisor Chris Tompkins at (630) 529-3650 to sign up.
