Welcome to the BPD E-newsletter!
This monthly update keeps you in tune with all of the events, activities and happenings in the Bloomingdale Park District. Our mission is to efficiently and economically provide recreation programs, facilities and open space designed to provide enjoyable leisure time experiences that benefit the community.

Family Olympic Day
Challenge yourself with a day of fun-filled action at Family Olympic Day! The events begin at 9 a.m., June 30 in The Oasis Water Park and continue in adjacent Circle Park and Johnston Recreation Center.
Pre-registration is encouraged but not required. Register in person at the JRC or online here. Family Olympic Day is located under Special Events on the right sidebar menu. The first 100 registrants receive a free T-shirt the day of the event!

Special Events at The Oasis
The Oasis Water Park has a number of special events this month including:
Giveaway Days - Enjoy sun block and lip balm courtesy of Adventist GlenOaks Hospital on July 12. Return on July 18 for a squishy surfboard, and passholders receive a free slice of pizza July 19 (4-7 p.m.).
Discount Day - Admission is only $3 for all patrons on July 11!
Swim 'n' Float - Bring your own float to use at The Oasis all day on July 2!
Poolside Chalk Talk - Children of all ages may create a drawing of their own on the pool deck on July 12. All children who participate receive a Freeze-Pop!
Hawaiian Day - Join us for a luau party July 18! Games, prizes and activities are part of the fun.
Coin Dive! - The Oasis' most popular event returns July 24. Children ages 4-12 are invited to dive for coins and other items in all depths of the pool. Special coins provided by Bloomingdale Bank & Trust earn a special prize.

Lunchtime Funtime Entertainment Series
Enjoy FREE children's entertainment all summer long with the new children's entertainment series Lunchtime Funtime.
The fun takes places noon to 1 p.m. select Fridays, through August at Old Town Park. Participants are welcome to bring a blanket and lunch. Groups and camps are welcome. Food is available for purchase.
Upcoming dates include June 29, and July 6, 20 and 27.
News & Notes
Summer Concert Series - Catch Piano Men (Billy Joel & Elton John cover band), Who Knew (50s and later) and The Wild Ones (Rock-A-Billy) in July at the Summer Concert Series. Held every Tuesday at Old Town Park, 111 Third Street, all concerts are FREE and begin at 7 pm. Participants may bring lawn chairs and refreshments. Summer Concerts are sponsored by Bloomingdale Bank & Trust. Piano Men is additionally sponsored by U.S. Cellular.
Family Fun Picnic - Enjoy juggler Andy Head at the Family Fun Picnic July 9 at Indian Lakes Park.
Outdoor Summer Movie - The 2012 Summer Outdoor Movie shows at 8:45 p.m., July 20 at Bloomingdale Bank & Trust, 165 W. Lake St. Bring your blankets, lawn chairs and snacks for a night under the stars at this FREE event.
The Museum - The Fiber Artists Coalition Quilt Show returns July 21 and runs through Aug. 25 at the BPD Museum. The annual exhibit is a collection of work by members of the Fiber Artists Coalition, an affiliation of fiber and textile artists from the upper midwestern United States, including five members from the Chicago area. Viewers of "Conversations in Stitch on Nature" may explore a variety of materials employed, the spectrum of abstract and emotive work, and the array of interpretations of everyday experiences.
