This monthly update keeps you in tune with all of the events, activities and happenings in the Bloomingdale Park District. Our mission is to efficiently and economically provide recreation programs, facilities and open space designed to provide enjoyable leisure time experiences that benefit the community.

Summer Brochure

The Park District's In Season Summer Brochure is scheduled to be delivered to residents April 4-7.

The guide features 30-plus new programs and classes in addition to annual special event favorites and a bevy of benefits-based programming.

Among the highlights are the new Oasis Super Pass; summer camps for all ages; new special events Family Olympic Day, Flat Stanley's Bloomingdale Adventures, Battle of the Bands and Lunchtime Funtime; the return of Bloomingdale's Got Talent; and a multitude of new adult fitness options.

The resident lottery is now through April 25. Open registration for all residents and non-residents begins April 27. Anyone placed on a wait list during open registration will be contacted to see if alternative arrangements can be made.

Garage Sale!

One person's junk is another person's treasure! Reserve your spot now for the Park District Garage Sale April 21 at the JRC!

Admission is free. Cost for vendors is $25 for approximate 10'x 10' space (includes one 8-foot table and 2 folding chairs). Additional tables and chairs are $10.

News & Notes

Friday Night Fun - Need a break from the kids? The Park District offers Middle School Open Gym Night and Klub Friday Night Jr. April 13.

Fish Release - Help restock ponds at Lakeview Park in Bloomingdale and Turner Park in Roselle at the annual Fish Release April 14 at 9 a.m. Participants are provided with buckets to dispense fish into the ponds. All ages are welcome at this FREE event. Participants are asked to bring canned goods that are donated to the Bloomingdale Food Pantry.

BPD Museum - The highly-popular student art show featuring students from kindergarten through 12th-grade runs through April 14. The WDSRA & Little City Show runs April 19-28, with a reception and special hands-on activities scheduled for April 22.

After taking a long hiatus from working out, be it for an injury, illness, pregnancy or other, many of my patients feel discouraged they will never “get their groove back” and return to their previous fitness level.Â This can create a downward spiral because you don’t feel motivated to get back to the gym, walk or increase your activity level.Â However, sitting on the couch because you’re depressed furthers the atrophy of your muscles and cardiovascular system, putting you one step further from your goal.Â After all, you can’t do the same exercises or run as far as you used to, so what’s the point of working out anyway?!
